Perhaps you read about Cafe Expresso in last months Philly mag. It's a Portuguese restaurant up in the Northeast. Well...this undiscovered "gem" was a real disappointment. The bottom line -unless you speal portuguese you will be treated like a second class citizen. It took 1 hr for us to get our food while the native speakers next to us were served in 15 min. One of our entrees was brought out 10 min. after the other. The waiter ignored us. And there are 2 TVs in the restaurant that blare. In short...although the food was good...skip it. There are too many great restaurants in Philly to discover.
Philadelphia, PA
Pretty Poor Portuguese
Cafe Expresso is practically my favorite restaurant in Philadelphia. I have eaten there many times at both lunch and dinner, weekdays and weekends and have never had bad service. The TV part is true but I think it kind of adds to the Old World atmosphere. Ari E. wrote: > FWIW, I had very courteous service there a few months ago.
