My wife and I ate at Il Pizzaioli in Mt Lebenon tonight, and I
highly reccomend it. We had a large neopolitan pizza, and it was very
close to the wood fired pizza I had in Naples. The cheese is fresh
mozzerella, the tomato sauce is rich without being too acidic or
unnaturally sweet, and the crust was nicely charred on the bottom,
imparting a smokey flavor. Too many wood fired pizza's around here
exhibit no 'wood fired' taste whatsoever. The ovens must be too well
ventilated, which I think defeats the point of cooking with wood in the
first place (i.e. smoke).
Service was also very good, and there is a nice courtyard in the
back( which we couldn't make use of tonight: too cold). A couple next to
us had a bottle of wine, so it is appearently ok to byob.
