Has Smokie Jo's Closed?

I didn't say anything before but I thought that place was Frankie's II. I went there once based on a review in the PG by Munch. I was dissappointed in the quality of the meat although I thought the sauce was good. I had a pork sandwich and the meat was dry and tough not tender and juicy as Munch proclaimed. And they were out of the coleslaw he raved about. Anyway, I thought that Smokie Joe's was that place out near McKeesport or Monongehela that someone posted about a while back during one of our BBQ discussions. BTW, next week my Eaternet group is off to the wilds of Slippery Rock for Texas BBQ. That place is awesome. Can't wait. Kate

If you're talking about Texas Hill BBQ between Rt79 and Slippery Rock. It's not very good. Okay they have some *cutesie* bread bowl and potato skin dishes but the BBQ meats are way below even Damons. The sauce is better than average though.

So many good BBQs but so few slacks that still fit.

Well, I've been there about five times and I have always found their food to be excellent. Eaternet went there last spring and everyone in the group raved about how good it was, which is why we're going again - due to demand from the members, a number of whom are BBQ afficionados. Kate

  No Less!

Seriously,if you/all are that partial to Texas Hill,
then you may as well consider trying Muddy Creek BBQ
  on Rt19 north of Zeli.

  Enjoy, 'AB
