Coffee and Knishes

I had a great cafe mocha this morning in Oakland at Tuscany Coffee on Forbes
opposite Sam Goodies. It was so much better than the swill served up on the
5th floor. I've also tried their 'Dancing Goat's' blend of regular coffee
which is quite good. I hear that Tuscany, a Seattle-based operation and a
competitor of Starbucks, bought out the locally owned Arabica shops. Anyone
know if this is true? Is it old news?.

I haven't had a good knish since I left Bayside, Queens in '64. Well, once in
the late 70's in Ithaca N.Y.. I've tried the ones at Rhoda's and the place
on Copeland St. Not even close to the real thing. Both potato and kaska (sp)
knishes were the sort of thing you'd get with a coke for an afterschool snack
where I grew up. I've always been surprised what with the local ethnic communities
in the burgh the no one had a decent knish. But then I'd never eaten a perogie
 in New York. -dmm
