Went to Cafe Habana last night, at 21st and Sansom Sts. Nice decor, very reasonable prices. Earlier posts about this establishment documented the typical problems associated with a restaurant getting their initial act together; our food and beverage service was good--no agonising delays.

Try the El Habanero appetizer plate! Included is barbecued ham, croquettes (yum!), tamal (comes with chicken or pork filling--we got pork tamals), and fried green plantains.

My friend had the zarzuela de marisco--excellent seafood medley in a red sauce (mussels, clams, lobster, and really really tender squid!). I had one of two chicken dishes on the menu--a chicken breast. The other was a half(?) chicken in a red sauce. Your choice of sides included steamed yucca (erm, bleh), saffron (!) or white rice, and fried green or sweet plantains. Either plantain choice is great!

Several beef and pork selections.

One of the co-owners, a very pleasant gentleman by the name of Juan, came by to visit later to make sure everything was all right. We told him we would definitely be back, and that we'll be telling all our friends to try it out.

Like I'm doing right now. :) Check it out, folks!
