Alexander's is definitely one of your classic pgh dining experiences.
highlights-
-Relatively inexpensive, but nice enough for a date, etc.
-You can eat at the bar too.
-Pasta dishes are very decent. (whadya expect..)
-All the freakin' bread and olive oil/parmesan cheese you want for free.
-charming pittsburgh natives make up service staff
complaints-
-stuffing my face w/bread leaves me with no room for dinner :)
-sometimes difficult to custom order (i asked vegan, i got a pile of cheese..)
-Guy at the bar is kinda, eh...
-I have the feeling they cater to older bloomfield natives better than others
-Well, I heard that the pasta actually comes in frozen! (rumors, rumors..)

Alexander's in Bloomfield??

I have eaten there at least ten times, and have never been disappointed. They have typical Italian dishes for a reasonable price. My favorite dish there is the ravioli pollo, which is ravioli stuffed with shredded chicken, ricotta cheese and sweet red pepper, served with a basil and garlic cream sauce. They also have great Italian wedding soup. Terri
