There's a good submarine sandwich shop on Brown just south of Stewart, called Milano's. One of the best restaraunts, esp. steaks, is the Pine Club, on Brown north of Stewart. I don't do much dancing but there is a nightclub in the Marriot I think. There is a "strip" called the Oregon District which has several "disco type" bars, some blues bars, and a jazz bar. The area is a historic district and is located on 5th street between Wayne and Jefferson. In addition, there are several bars for the college crown on and around UD, mostly on Brown St. I don't know about dancing there, but I'm sure some goes on.

DOWNTOWN
Email if you have more specific questions. Since I grew up and live in Dayton, if I don't know the answer I can find out probably!

Dayton, OH restaurants
There are actually a reasonable number of good restaurants in Dayton... Among my personal favorites are:
The Pine Club: almost indisputably the best steak in town; actually among
the best that I've had anywhere. Also very good pork chops.
Atmosphere not that great; always a wait.
Kitty's Wonderful food from a menu that changes monthly to take
advantage of seasonal ingredients. Very nice atmosphere,
fantastic food, fairly reasonable prices. Desserts
are to die for (especially the creme brulee).
Jay's One of the two decent places to go in town for fresh fish.
Intersting converted warehouse, but does tend to be a bit
noisy. Not much but fish on the menu.... though they
do have a couple of very good desserts.
L'Auberge As you can probably guess from the name, this is Dayton's
French restaurant. Extremely good food, but rather snobby
atmosphere and service; also quite expensive.
The Winds Not actually in Dayton, but in a little town called Yellow
Springs that's about a 30 minute drive (depending on where
you're staying of course. If you happen to be at WPAFB it's
quite close to that). This is one of those kind of
"alternative" places with the emphasis on healthy, fresh
organic kind of things. The rather limited but constantly
changing menu always has some extremely interesting items.
Great homemade desserts also change nightly. The
building is very open and plain with lots of white walls and
bare wood...which looks nice, but does make it quite noisy
when the place fills up. The whole town has kind of a
retro-60's hippie feel to it. A really enjoyable evening.
Amber Rose This quaint little deli/restaurant is in a restored building
done up beautifully. They serve what they call "Eastern
European" food. The owners are actually Lithuanian, so you
get quite a bit of that country's offerings; there are also
Polish, Hungarian, and some German selections available.
All of the food is hearty, rich, wonderful, cholesterol
laden "comfort" food. The whole experience has a very
happy kind of family feel to it. Also amazingly inexpensive.
There are a few others that are quite good, but these should give you a starting point.
