You should make a slight detour to Wilson and eat at Parker's. It's worth the few extra miles and many (including me) believe it is the very best barbecue available. And I have made it a personal quest to eat barbecue everywhere so I can evaluate fairly! Wilson has several outstanding BBQ places. In fact many of us face Wilson at about lunch time each day and rub our stomachs.

If you decide to eat BBQ in Raleigh, the Barbecue Lodge on Capital Blvd. is your best bet. It's acceptable and of the Eastern NC style, but not as good as Parker's.

Happy eating!

Here is the bible of barbecue for NC
 The Lexington Collection

Dave Lineback runs the best barbecue mailing list around and nobody knows more about NC que than Dave. There are a couple of places in the Raleigh area but if you are planning I40 to Wilmington and then Myrtle Beach, you can ease over to Goldsboro to eat the finest example of Eastern NC barbecue around at Wilber's. Check out Lineback's list and stick with the wood burners. A lot of the famous joints are now has-beens because they switched to gas.

Check out Scott's Barbecue in Goldsboro North Carolina. They are great and have been around for about 50 years.

They have a website at www.scottsbarbecuesauce.com
