Hi, I can't help with any restaurants on Shelter Island but 10 minutes from the Ferry to Greenport in Cutchogue is a place called Ross's North Fork Restaurant. (Its on the North Road ask on the Ferry for Directions) The real deal here is their Pri Fixe lunch (Dinner is a little pricy) You get the same food as the dinner menu but with 4 courses and a lower price that the dinner entree price. Chef John Ross uses the freshest local ingredients and does a GREAT job with preperation and presentation. There are 4 of them in different areas on the North Fork. They offer simply the BEST Marinted Steak. (again ask any one for dirctions) It might not fit your criteria (you can't buy a vegetable in the place) but if you eat red meat, you will not regret it.
