Any other wonderful places out > there that will thrill my taste buds and make my trip? ===== Here are a few of my favorites: Breakfast: La Fonda hotel is a beautiful place to have breakfast... I wouldn't miss this. Lunch: The Shed - Get there when it opens or there will be a line. Delicious mexican food only open for lunch. Just off the plaza, a santa fe institution, anyone can tell you where it is. Josies - a few blocks off the plaza... a converted house, also great mexican food La Posada - a great bar for an end of the day drink. don't know much about their food. Molly's Mexican Kitchen - good mexican food. Order your enchilada "Christmas" and they'll bring it to you with half red sauce and half green sauce. Three Cities of Spain on Canyon road is great for an afternoon cup of coffee and slice of cheese cake. Dinner la Turtulias (sp?) is good. El Farole on Canyon road Finally I recommend that you go up to Rancho De Chimyo, about 20 minutes from santa fe. anyone can give you directions. it will give you a wonderful ride through the northern new mexico country side. Leave about 11:00, get there in time for lunch... stop by one of the road side stands and by a few pounds of ground red chile. it's the best in the world Another trip I recommend is to leave Santa Fe about 5:00 and drive up to Anthony's on the Delta in Espanola. Delicious food in one of the most beautiful restaurants I've ever been in. You'll need reservations. They don't serve much mexican food, only a vegetarian enchilada... Avoid the "California version of new mexico cuisine" such as the coyote cafe unless your idea of authentic mexican food is roast duck with chocolate raspberry sauce with cilantro and lime with orange slices and avacados on a bed of bean sprouts... have fun! skip From X Wed Jul 27 16:08:22 EDT 1994 Article: 9659 of rec.food.restaurants

I have been going to Santa Fe for about 20 years and these are two greats. Get a #6 at the Shed and apricot pie at Josie's! >Dinner > la Turtulias (sp?) is good. > El Farole on Canyon road >Finally I recommend that you go up to Rancho De Chimyo, about 20 minutes >from santa fe. anyone can give you directions. it will give you a wonderful >ride through the northern new mexico country side. I'm going at Thanksgiving, but I'm already salivating. Other good places: Tesque (Tesuque?) has a general store that serves great food. It's about 15 minutes outside of Santa Fe and has the wonderful road sign "You are now entering the village of Tesuque, please drive slowly." and about 10 yds later "Even more slowly"... My all time favorite restaurant in Santa Fe is The Pink Adobe. Lunches are very reasonably priced. Dinners are more expensive but very worth it. The Steak Dunnigan is the best steak I have ever had in my life (A huge cut of meat smothered in gren chiles and mushrooms). It's just fabulous. Don't forget to pick up a copy of Cooking with a Silver Spoon by the owner - it's a small cookbook, but it's got really wonderful recipes (including Steak Dunnigan!). Have fun! There's an order window which opens on the sidewalk. Order the Frito/chili supreme. I won't say more; but, even though you'll be surprised, you'll also be Eternally Grateful for this recommendation!
