It is New Mexican style. I think there are three restaurants in the Albq. area. C. Warner From X Wed Jul 6 16:23:39 EDT 1994 Article: 9365 of rec.food.restaurants

Everything is slathered with sour cream. It's owned by a chain in Arizona. For NM style cuisine, I recommend Garcia's (many locations), Los Cuates, Monroe's, The Sanitary Tortilla Factory, and Camino Real. For West Coast of Mexico cuisine, try El Norteño. For Spanish: Café Broadway (superb food). For Southern: Arthur's & The Dot. From X Wed Jul 6 16:25:20 EDT 1994 Article: 9370 of rec.food.restaurants

I also tried Monroes and arcia's. The best place I ate at was Los Cuates, that's where a lot of the locals go... Rick From X Fri Jul 8 22:49:14 EDT 1994 Article: 9411 of rec.food.restaurants

I like Gardunos sometimes, and it did start out as a family restaurant on north fourth many years ago... But for my favorite New Mexican food, Padillas beats the pants off of the compitition;) As far as other foods, Scalo is a little high end, but it has excellent Northern Italian food, The Thai restaurant behind Baskin Robbins across from the University on Central has great food too. The Japanese Kitchen has a nice sushi bar, and there are several micro breweries if you are into beer, one is Assets Grill. If you have a chance to get north of Albuq, the Praire Star in Bernilillo is very good. Good luck and have a great trip! From X Sun Jul 31 21:15:26 EDT 1994 Article: 9776 of rec.food.restaurants
