In Meyersville (a tiny town near Gillete, Sterlingm, Basking Ridge) has a GREAT Mexican restaurant caleld Casa Maya. We ususally only go for lunch because the portions are the same for dinner and much more expensive. For lunch they have a special menu where they incude an entree and soup (Gazpacho, Black bean or chicken) for $5.95. it is the best Mexican food we have found in the East. enjoy! Randi

There's a terrific little Mexican restaurant in Red Bank on Monmouth St. called Juanito's that I've been to a couple of times. It also has Mexican takeout and a grocery in separate locations across the street. I've only been there for lunch and have had great meals. I have heard that they get very crowded at dinner (it's very tiny) and that the cooking can be inconsistent. It's BYOB. There is also the old standby of Casa Comida in Long Branch. It's been there for years, I think its reputation has stayed pretty good due to past performance. However, its a good place to go with a gang of people - although it too gets very crowded. There's supposed to be a great little Mexican restaurant on Main St. in Freehold - but I don't know the name of it...it's probably in the phone book. In Monmouth/Ocean county, there is also the Garcia's chain of Mexican restarants - adequate at best. Tracy

It was Jose Teras (did I spell that : right???) in Woodbridge and it was HORRIBLE. It was the worst Mexican I Thanks for the warning! There's a Mexican restaurant in Marleton, NJ called the Mexican Food Factory that's quite good. This place is on Route 70 just west of the Marleton Circle (where Routes 70 and 73) meet. Its right across from the Barnes & Nobel bookstore.
I've been to that same mexican restaurant in Freehold.
It's right by the old Railroad Station & tracks there. It was very good. Also functions as a grocery store.
Try also Mexican Village II in Princeton. Has had a good
reputation for many years. BYOB
