What exactly do you expect out of a "first rate meal?" Wildwood is a wonderful place to visit, but its not exactly known for its high quality restaurants. I like Grof's for down home good food. Grof's is on the boardwalk, but facing south, a few blocks south of 26th Street. The pies there are home made and fantastic and you get a free slice if you have a coupon. Coupons can be found in the information booth along the a few blocks north of Grof's. Note that Grof's has very limited hours, I believe they are opened only from 4:00pm to 8:00pm.

If you don't mind a bit of a car trip, there's Menz's restaurant which is fantastic! Service there is wonderful, food is all freshly made and mostly from local ingredients. You can also get wines from some of the local NJ vineyards there. Menz's is located on Rio Grande Avenue (route 47) a few miles west of Wildwood. I do not have the phone number handy for Menz's, but I will be glad to look it up for you. Going to Menz's for dinner without calling a head to get your name on their priority seating list is not a good idea. Without calling a head, the wait time can easily be an hour or two and that says a lot because the restaurant is huge!

Although I am not a seafood eater, friends who are tell me that Urie's is very good. Urie's is right at the foot of the bridge on Route 47 as you enter Wildwood. I have driven by there many times and it always looks busy, which is certainly a good sign.

For breakfast, try Samuel's which is about two blocks off the Boardwalk in North Wildwood. I think its around 17th or 18th Street and Pacific Ave. The food there, especially their pancakes is awesome, but during the weekend, the line to get in can be very line. Samuel's also does not accept reservations.

For delicious pizza, try Sam's which is on the Boardwalk at 26th Street. Directly across the boardwalk on the pier is Curley's fries. If you're not on a diet, you can buy an order of fries, bring it into Sam's and order a steak sandwhich or pizza from there with a grape drink. This is an excellent "typical boardwalk lunch" that's very tasty and cheap. The folks at Sam's do not mind at all if people bring in fries from Curley's, probably because french fries are not on Sam's menu.

For a tasty dessert treat, try Kohr's custard from any of their locations along the boardwalk. I like their orange custard, which is also fairly low in fat compared to their other flavors. There's a Kohr's on the corner at 26th Street and the Boardwalk. The only down side to Kohr's is that their custard is expensive compared to other ice cream stands in Wildwood.

[email removed] was right!

Menz has _ample_ portions of _tasty_ food for reasonable prices (try the chocolate cake for dessert!). Samuel's pancake house is AWESOME for breakfast with a myriad of flavors for pancakes, waffles, omlets etc.... Samuels does not accept any credit cards.

Thank you Stan.

An excellent, but pricey, restaurant just above Cape May is Axelsson's (sp?) Blue Claw. Seafood is fresh and great, but they also have other types of dishes.

It is next to one of the dock areas for commercial fishing boats, on the right just after the drawbridge when heading south from Wildwood. (Although a relatively fancy place, it is kid-friendly, if that's a concern.)

Don't forget about Alfe's for awesome Italian. Ask for Thomas or Gil.Excellent food and service. In Cape May the Lobster House is always a favorite, located on fisherman's wharf. For outstanding take-out seafood, Rick's in North Wildwood blows them all out of the water. No seating ,strictly carry out. 2 hour wait every night of the week.(609)729-9443.Sits on the corner of 147 (main road into North Wildwood)and Virginia ave. Next to Dairy Queen
