Emeril's Las Vegas - a disappointment

Had dinner at Emeril's Las Vegas last night (April 16) and was disappointed by the service and the food. The wait staff was courteous, it was clear they were trying to turn the table in an hour. The entrees appeared before we had finished our appetizers (although the waitress apologized). I ordered the bread pudding for dessert and the waiter informed me that it would be a 15 minute wait because it had to be made to order. This did not matter to me, as I had really expected to have a nice, relaxed dinner. However, when the bread pudding appeared, it was still cold in the middle, perhaps having been heated from the frozen state. The waitress did take it off the bill. As for the rest of the meal, I had the tuna, which was pretty dry (even though it was cooked medium rare, at the chef's suggestion and to my taste as well) It was heavily coated in pepper, which masked any flavor of the fish. The same was the problem with the clams casino appetizer and the barbecued salmon entree. The truffled parsnip soup had a nice cream base, but no other flavor -- it could just as easily have been white sauce. What I had expected to be a lovely relaxing meal (IMHO) was just another dinner in an adequate Las Vegas restaurant. For the price (Bottle of Chardonnay $24 and up, entrees in the $20's), it should have been better. And the saddest thing was that the waitress said that Chef Emeril was in the kitchen that night.

I was there the same night. I am willing to give them the benefit of the doubt, as I suspect they were a bit overwhelmed by the convention (NAB) crowd. I had been there the previous Sunday night before the conventioneers arrived and had a terrific meal--including the barbecued salmon that disappointed Al. (Note to Al: Of course it had pepper on it-- it's New Orleans style cooking) I've been to the New Orleans Emeril's once and thought Sunday Night at Las Vegas was comparable. (My dinner guest, who has been to the New Orleans place several times, thought the Las Vegas place might even be better than the original.) Like Al, I had some disappointments Tuesday night (service errors, a wine steward who never returned to our table even though we'd said we'd be wanting his advice), but I'm willing to try it again.

I agree. I"ve eaten at Emeril"s Las Vegas store three times, New orleans at least ten. There is no comparison between the two....Las vegas is off. Charles P. Reay 1116 Warson Woods Drive St. Louis, Missouri 63122
