Two places in KC are must visit! The first is easy. Check out the 'Golden Ox' at the KC stockyards. Outstanding Chef and sensible prices. Lunch is a free for all, but you better have a reservation for evening dinner. Naturally, KC steak is on top of the menu, but they feature a killer bean soup every thursday for lunch. I couldn't duplicate it even with the Chef's personal recipe written on a knapkin. The second place is harder, because I can't remember the name or address, but everydody in town knows about it. It's a 'Q' joint on the east side. If they aren't all dead by now, it's run by black folk and they do 'Q' indoors in huge wood fired ovens. The restaurant floor is unfinished, the chairs are straight backs, and the tableclothes are oil cloth. At lunchtime, you'll have to wade through the limos, Beemers and Corvettes to get to the door. Don't be surprised to see some Armani suits mixed with grubby hard hats inside.

You can have beef or pork and maybe chicken, but don't even think about ordering a steak of pasta. They don't have a grill and they don't own any pots and pans. They do serve frenchfries. If you want sauce on your 'Q' you have to put it on yourself. They don't keep any in the kitchen.
