I like Gates on Brooklyn but I'd suggest going during the day.

Many people brag on Arthur Bryant's but my two visits were less than impressive.

There is no better BBQ than Rosedale.

Hi,

I've eaten at most, having lived in KC for my first 48 years. Go to Bryant's Barbecue. The new one at the Station Casino just off of I-435 at Highway 210 seems to use better trimmed brisket. The slab of ribs and giant plate of fries is hard to beat. My wife likes the beef and turkey combo sandwitch with fries. It can feed two.

A personal favorite in that city is Rouse's. A buddy of mine works for the railroad and I con him into bringing me their sauce when he goes through there...

Since your in the Kansas City area, why not head north a couple hours to Omaha? We have some fantastic BBQ places here. Skeets and Harkerts are local legends. But the BEST in town is McKennas, Blues, Booze & Barbeque off 73rd and Pacific. They also make the best soups and gumbos you'll find anywhere in the Midwest, and their cornbread is downright addictive! Sandy

Hayward's across the river in Kansas is first-rate. If you go to Bryant's get the burnt ends. Rosedale is worth a visit, as is a little joint not far from there called Quick's. Try Amazing Grace's sauce at the Grand Emporium blues bar on Main.

That's the place! Couldn't remember the name and didn't want to embarass myself. And yes, get the burnt ends.
