For an very good dinner, lunch or Sat/Sunday brunch, try Lucia's, in Uptown, 31st and Hennepin. Sure, my wife is a chef there, but I don't let that get in the way. They use terrific fresh and varied ingredients, cook with a commitment to quality and quantity, and see themselves as a country French bistro. This is a place that business folk lunch at, that the grooviest and the old money eat midweek, and the prices, while above average, are well below the big hitters in town.

Tell 'em you heard about it on the 'net.

What kind of restaurants do you like? We have brewpubs, oriental, steakhouses, french, greek, and almost any other type of restaurant in the twin cities. I've only been living here for a couple of months, but so far I like:

Cafe Un Deux Trois - in historic Forshay Tower, great french bistro
      atmosphere
Broders Pasta Bar - off 50th in SW MPLS, great pasta, can be crowded,
only 3.2 beer and no wine :-(
Peppitos - on Chicago Ave, good mexican food
Kahn's Mongolian Barbecue - great chinese food, fun, and not too expensive Tulips - in St. Paul, nice quiet cafe, small selection, but everything
      prepared well
Brasserie - good rustic french food, but not great atmosphere. Sherlock's Home - great english style brewpub, in Minnetonka Rock Bottom Brewery - decent brewpub, not a stretch culinary wise Cosseta's (sp?) - best pizza in Twin Cities, on 7th in St. Paul Mudpie - nice vegetarian place, on S. Lyndale

Places that I haven't been to yet, but have heard good things about: D'amica Cucina - supposedly the best Italian food in town, with two smaller,
less expensive cafes in SW MPLS
Dakota Bar and Grill - fine Midwest cuisine and good jazz, in St. Paul Goodfellows - hey, Gorby liked it. Palaminos - Euro-metro-bistro, cool looking interior Manny's - best steakhouse in Twin Cities? Bucca's - family fun with large portions of good italian food. crowded. Randi's Tres Cafe - chic place to be seen, overlooking Loring Park

Hope this helps. Email for more specific info if desired.

Went to Minneapolis 2 weeks ago. Thenks to all who posted recommendations. We ended up trying D'amico Cucina and Ping's Schechuan House. D'Amico Cucina was great. I've been to many of the best italian restaurants in Chicago and I would put D'amico Cucina right up there; The Antipasto platter was the best assortment that I;ve seen. Procuitto de Parma, Asiago Cheese, Eggplant with goatcheese .. Yum! The green salad was served with blackberries and balsamic vinagrette - Exceptional. I had the pasta with lobster and my husband had the trout. All was great.

Ping's smelled funny when we walked in, but the food was good.
