There is an addition at Broders Deli. Now they have the Southside Pasta Bar directly across the street. Informal, cozy atmosphere, excellent service, and a truely delicious menu with everything under $10. For dessert, try the Formaggio.

I'll have to try it the next time I wander up that way. Some of my favorite Minneapolis/St. Paul/metro hangouts: Sawatdee -- Minneapolis, Washington st., if I remember correctly. (I just know where things are, I don't remember street names) This is where I lost my Thai food virginity; everything is excellent, but the basil dishes are sublime. Tequilaberry's -- Coon Rapids, Coon Rapids Blvd. Okay, okay, I know, it's a ferocious yuppie hangout, but the prime rib loft is the best feed in the city on Fridays & Saturdays. However, you've got to get there AT 6:00 (or is it 5:00?) to avoid a multi-hour wait, since they don't take reservations. Port of Beirut -- 5th street(?) St. Paul. Good, good, good lebanese/ middle eastern. Sri Lanka Curry House -- Hennepin Ave., Minneapolis. Wonderful curries, but be warned: mild is hot, medium is incendiary, and hot is, well, I've never had the nerve. Pannekoeken Huis -- EVERYWHERE. It's a chain, but you couldn't tell it from the food. The apple pannekoeken with cinnamon ice cream is about the most decadent breakfast you can get, and I'd drive 50 miles out of my way (and have) for their coffee. (How come we don't have these in Chicago?!??!???) Now I'm all hungry... -- Andy

Try the Pad Thai, and ask if they have sticky rice with fresh mango for dessert. Yum, yum, yum! Port of Beirut is at 1385 S. Robert St, W.St.Paul (take Hwy 3 to the Wentworth/Thompson exit and go west). It's *well* worth the trip. The chicken kabobs with garlic sauce are exquisite. And the Kibbe Nayee (raw Kibbe appetizer) is even better! Best of all, Cassandra dances there on weekends. (Say hi from me if you see her.) Other favorites of mine are: Signature Cafe - 1 block S of Franklin Av on Warwick, SE Mpls; tucked away in a hidden neighborhood between the Mississippi river and St.Paul. Great Egyptian and American food in a casual cafe. Phuong Cafe - Amazingly casual Vietnamese restaurant with wonderful food. Ignore the neighborhood (21st and Nicollet) and plunge in! (Besides, there's a police station across the street.) Khyber Pass - Very tasty Afghani food, entertainment on weekends (I think). Hidden on St.Clair and Pascal in a St.Paul neighborhood. El Amanecer - One of the great Mexican restaurants on Concord St in St.Paul. Best Tamales in town (I think they buy them from the El Burrito deli next door; I know *I* do!). Across the street is Juanita's and El Jacal, if you're in the mood for *really* casual dining. Each place has delicious food. Without the obnoxious atmosphere of the chain Mexican places around town. Kramarczyk's - Fabulous Ukrainian/E.European deli on E.Hennepin in Mpls. Don't eat here if you're about to have your cholesterol checked... Mai Village - One of my favorite Vietnamese restaurants, at 422 University Av, St.Paul. This place is fancier than most, and has an unusual and delicious "7-course Beef Dinner". Some of the selections are also available on the regular menu; try the grilled meat balls in grape leaves with rice wrappers! I used to like Muffuletta, but I'm not happy about their new "image" and menu. Does anyone know where I can get a good Steak Bearnaise with french fries in the Twin Cities?
