We were just in Puerto Vallerta for the 2nd time this past April. We love Daiquiri Dick's. Try the black bean quesadillas for an appetizer. The Adobe Cafe was great - loved the interior of it, as well as the food. Cafe des Artistes is probably the most expensive restaurant in town, but worth it to us. We've eaten there on both trips, the pumpkin soup is awesome.

We've never been to Nuevo Vallerta, it's about 40 minutes from town.

Try Las Marietas in PV--it is on the mountain, and has a wonderful view of the ocean. The night we were there a mariachi band was playing and we all danced while waiting for our meal. Also there is a restaurant known for its "blow-torch nachos" --they really are prepared with a blow torch. They served an excellent bean soup--even saw the recipe for it in Gourmet Magazine once. I can't think of the name but if you mention the blow torch nachos a local will be able to tell you the name--that is how we found out about it. Don't miss the market and be sure to take your flip flops/pool shoes as the beach in PV doesn't really have sand--it is much more like gravel. Have fun!!! Kelly Ridgway
