We just spent a too short week on Cozumel, Mexico and I wanted to pass along a tip for great food on the island. On the east (windward) side of the island is a "bar" on the sand called Chen Rio - you can't miss it going around - it's about 30 min. from San Miquel on the only road that goes around the island. Miquel seems to be more in charge than anyone. His young son helps out serving with Papa being the main waiter when Miquel is out fishing. Papa's brother is the #2 waiter and road-crossing assistant. It's definately family run. They have two skiffs that they catch the menu with. The several times we've been there it seems frequented mainly by local, or at least Spanish decent folks. We had a platter for two of Spiney Lobster! It was excellent! About $30 US and PLENTY of food. Beers are about $1.50 - Papa or Uncle will be certain to dig up a table and place it under one of the many palapas or in the sun if you'd rather. The food is delicious and the people are friendly and the atmosphere - well.... there just aren't words good enough to describe it.
