My curiosity got the best of me.. so I took a little walk to Chinatown
today... it's actually called "Suishaya" and they said they've been
there since July of last year... I decided to order the "Sushi and
sashimi" lunch special, which consisted of "1 tekka maki, 3 pieces of
nigiri, 4 pieces of sashimi" for $9.95, nothing else included... I
thought this price was a little steep (compared to what I am used to)..
but thought I'd try it anyway... I got it to go...

Well... I think I'll be sticking with Sakura Bana, at least for lunch...
the sushi chef at this place must have been really bored or had a
complete lack of imagination.. or was just short on fish.. because I got
the 6 piece tuna roll (two of the six pieces were too chewy and sinewy..
this turned me off), 2 pieces of tuna sashimi, 2 pieces of salmon
sashimi, 1 tuna nigiri, 1 salmon nigiri, and one whitefish nigiri.
While I do like salmon and tuna, I also like variety, and this clearly
wasn't the case.... Oh well.. at least the fish was fresh and was
tender, with the exception of the above mentioned tuna.

I would have ordered the sushi lunch special for $7.95, but was dismayed
by the fact that it only contained "chef's choice of 5 pieces of
nigiri." Hmmm.. let me guess... 3 tuna and 2 salmon?

The sushi menu was quite extensive and they do serve beer and wine.
Perhaps I will try their AYCE buffet.. but at $25, I'd be more apt to
return to Bisuteki in Revere for $21.95 less the 20% Transmedia
 discount.

I recommend the all-you-can-eat "buffet" (actually everything is made to
order), unless you're in a rush. It's best not to order a huge amount to
start: even if you do, it'll come out in a series of small orders, and by
the final third or quarter round, they'll have forgotten something. Paying
an extra price for anything that goes untouched is further incentive to
just relax and slowly work your way through the menu. All but the most
high-priced a la carte sushi items are available with the buffet price,
and unlike the old $25 bait-fest at Zipangu, they don't seem to double the
size of the nigiri rice balls here simply to fill you up quickly. The fish
seemed quite fresh, and the servers were prompt, especially with keeping
tea cups filled.Though the special maki were generally not as amazing as
those at either Ginza or Apollo, this niggling lapse was more than
compensated by the novelty of being able to dine on sushi in Chinatown
without the company of lots of unfiltered cigarette smokers.

 In short, worth a try.
