I have been to the Nashua Ming Garden's dim sum buffet. I thought
it was good. They combine carts with the steam table, and the
steam table had more mid-week-type fare on it.
The Far East in Cummings Park, Woburn, has a similar weekend
setup, which is not bad, but I find the Ming's to be less greasy,
less heavy. (Same comparison applies to their evening buffets.)

For the least intimidation the Peking Garden in Lexington Center
might be good, as the dim sum is ordered from a menu. (It depends
if you'd rather have things by sight or by words. Some of the
descriptions are as useful as "You are in a maze of twisty pork
buns" (or is that "You are in a maze of porky bunny twists"?).
