Although not seafood, no trip to Ogonquit, ME is complete without hotdogs at Flo's, a roadside stand (open 11-3 daily) 5 miles south of Ogonquit on U.S. 1. Flo's claim to fame is the ambience (early shack) and the sauce put on the steamed hot dogs. The price - $1.50 apiece - helps compensate for the spartan menu: hot dogs, fries, pie, and soft drinks. Above all this is an experience Maine visitors should not miss. But don't drive too fast or you'll miss it (the shack is on the east side of the road and has only one free standing sign identifying it). Jim ([email removed])

The fish and lobster is fresh from the boat. The prices are extremely reasonable, service is good, adn (best of all) ANYTHING you order will be very tasty. It's casual dining on a traditional Maine fishing wharf.

It's pretty fancy and we brought our kids there when we vacationed up there about 4 years ago and probably shouldn't have. The food was excellent, but the portions were kind of small and the prices rather high. In Kennbunkport, the White Barn Inn is excellent. We took my daughter there when she was an infant 9 years ago and they were very nice about it. Unfortunately, after our less than great experience with them at Arrows the last time we were there we chose not to chance it at White Barn. Both of these places are fine dining and not touristy. The Ogunquit Lobster Pound (I think that's the name) is more touristy but has good lobster and other stuff. -- Bill [email removed]

The seafood is also very good especially the onion rings. You can get all the typical seafood here. Best view/reasonable food: The Lighthouse Nubble Light (near it) York, Maine. Lots of variety on the menu, a little more formal, but a great view, and they serve breakfast which someday I will try. Servings are not huge, but they are not small either. Best ice cream cone: Fox's or Brown's ant Nubble Light York, Maine Best ice creame sundaes: The Viking Ogunquet. Best boiled lobster/clams: Lobster Pot Ogunquet. Check Your AAA guide for Maine and check the visitor's center in or just outside Ogunquet center, and try the Ogunquet Playhouse, I usually go up to Maine in the middle of June, Just before it opens.
