I was in George Bush country last weekend. It was rainy, foggy and nothing much to do, except of course find a good place to dine. Searching the internet, I found a few Kennebunkport pages with restaurant listings and an interesting one was Windows on the Water. So we tried it. A big homerun. Outstanding, eclectic cuisine with a slightly French flair. Moderately expensive. The lobster ravioli has won a few awards. The house mesclun salad and the Caesar were two of the best I have ever tasted. Shrimp appetizer was wrapped in prosciutto which I had never seen done before, and worked very well. Small wine list but some nice selections in the mid 20's. Because I didn't want to get dressed up, we passed on the famous White Barn restaurant (they apparently have a strict dress code). We were so impressed with Windows, we went back again on Sunday night! ---------------------- Brew pub: I also visited the Brew pub in the center of Kennebunkport, adjacent to Windows on the World. I found the place lacking. Beer was quite mediocre and atmosphere not what you would expect in a beer hall. However, a nice outdoor setting on a pleasant day with good views of the boating.
