Mt. Desert, Maine
Don't miss: *Sunday brunch at Asticou Inn, Northeast Harbor. Upscale atmosphere without extravagant prices. Good chance to people-watch New England brahmans. Terrific self-serve brunch in grand old inn. *Redfield's. Nouvelle cuisine delicatessen. I believe it's in Seal Harbor (or else Southeast Harbor...people on island will know). Great inventive salads, sandwiches, entrees, all reasonably priced. Best for lunch or will provide any menu item on take-out basis for picnics, hikes, etc. *Bar Harbor Inn, Bar Harbor. Dining room should still be open during your visit. Recommend for breakfast, any day. *The Opera House, Bar Harbor. Eclectic (GOOD FOOD!) menu in laid-back setting with choice operatic arias in the air. Very nice. *Also, if you haven't done this already, don't pass up chance to take in a movie in Bar Harbor's only movie theater (forget name), and be sure to pay a little extra for loge seats. This is a true old-time movie house with divided loge sections separated by heavy draperies. A kick. bex H. wrote: > We are thinking of going to Mt.
