On Rte. 1 south of Belfast is the Hideaway Cafe. It is a local diner where

my ex and the kids eat almost every Friday. I have eaten there more than once myself and see why they like it. Their fish and chips is cooked in a very nice light batter - much better than the heavy, greasy batters found at most places.

Can't recall the prices but it seems quite reasonable and well worth the money.

Drive south to Rockland and try either Jessica's on the Rockland/Owls Head border, or in the center of town, Cafe Miranda. Jessica's is more classic bistro, while Miranda offers California/Med/fusion. Both are very, very good. Dinner for two with wine about $40. Reservations necessary or advisable at both.
