Home page is at: : http://www.dis.co.jp/97219/La_Rochelle2/la_roche.htm : Be sure to enable your Japanese font. : Anyone know where Michiba (the former Japanese Iron Chef) works? I looked at this page. He is in the Toho Seimei Building in Shibuya approximately 500 meters from Shibuya Station on the side opposite Hachiko (the dog statue). I've actually been to this building many times before (24th Floor, Intergraph Corporation) to visit my friend who I used to work with a few years ago. I didn't realize that Sakai's restaurant was on the 32nd Floor. There is a French cafe in the mezzanine that might be related to the store on the 32nd floor. It serves coffee, french pastries and french snacks. It's in a slightly hilly area but within easy walking distance of the station. The only problem is you need to negotiate some elevated walkways (to cross Meiji Dori and Aoyama Dori, as I recall) which makes the walk a bit convoluted. If you don't use those walkways it's going to double the length because of the lack of places to cross those busy streets. The nice shopping areas are on the opposite side (the Hachiko side) of the station. Sakai's restaurant is in a business district side of Shibuya-eki. This is in a nicer upscale area of central Tokyo. I 'm going to have to check this place out this winter when I'm there visiting my friend. It's probably outside of my budget to actually dine there but I'll try to get some pictures taken and scanned. Ahh, that's a nice idea for my next trip. If I can't afford to eat there, why not snap pictures of the place and post them on the Internet?

They'll give you a few, but the one you want : is on a small street on the other side of the Akasaka Prince from the : New Otani, down the street from a school......(map below). If you have a map of the area, it's in Hirakawa 2-chome. The name of the jr. high school is Kojimachi Jr. High School if it's the one directly next to the Prince Hotel. There is no JR access, however there are two subway stations, Akasaka-Mitsuke Eki serving the Ginza-sen and Marunouchi-sen, Nagatacho Eki serving the Yurakucho-sen and the Hanzomon-sen. Or, further away, you could get off the Chiyoda-sen at Akasaka or Kokkai-Gijikomae Eki. There is no real convenenient JR access to this area. I used to work right at Akasaka Station (Kokusai-Shin Akasaka Buildings) and it was a pain to get to JR). From Shibuya, get on the Ginza line and go to Akasaka-Mitsuke or Hanzomon line and go to Nagatacho station. From Tokyo, take the Marunouchi line to Akasaka-Mitsuke, but beware that it's a long walk through Tokyo station from JR to the subway. : Chin Kenichi's restaurant was surprisingly moderately-priced for Japan. : Three of us having dinner there spent $110 (Y13000). Not bad at all for : Tokyo! I have no idea how much dinner at Nadaman would cost, but given : that it's in the New Otani, I would guess dinners would start at Y5000 : or more and go up from there. Depends on how much beer you ordered! But, Y13000 is VERY reasonable for that area, especially for Chinese food. : Map to Chin Kenichi's restaurant : : | | : _______ |_________| : |New | ||Akasaka||________ _____________ : |Otani| ||Prince |||school| |Chef Chin's| : ------- |---------|-------- |Restaurant | : | |__________|___________|_____ : | | : ________|_________|______________ : | : ________| _____________ : \ |Akasaka | : \ |Tokyu Hotel| : Akasaka ------------- : District : It's on the sixth floor of the building. Red sign outside..... : Hope this helps. : Albert Good map. It's just about the way that I remember it. It might be called the Zenkyoren building but I'm not sure.
