While we were in rome we found the best resturants were the ones off the beaten path. While walking on a main route take a side street,(mind your valubles) and look at where the locals are. We found a wonderful little place just off "via Septembre XXI not far from the hotel "RANIER". Don't remember the name of the place and the waiter didn't speak english or french but he jestured to us that we were in good hands and the meal was stupendous, and I'm damned pickey. We were not taken advantage of as far as the price and the ambiance was full. They eat and drink in italy like it might be thier last meal. We should all learn something from them.they also can help you celebrate, in a small neighbourhood resturant they instantly become your family, while in cassino italy it was my husbands birthday and they took up the song(bit different, but means the same) and the whole resturant toasted him and some even bought him a drink. Have a great trip! sophie
