Dear Rachel:

one of the best meals I've had in a long time was in Florence.

"Trattoria La Carabaccia" at Via Palazzuolo 190r. Truly a great find --

I shall attempt to describe where it is.

Stand with you back to the railroad station so the center of down/Duomo is at your 7-8 o'clock position (over your left shoulder). You'll want to head diagonaly to your right walking away from the station. Start across from the at a very good cafeteria that I remember from my first Florence visit 31 years ago!

So...as you face the cafeteria, you go a block to your right of that establishment and then turn left to continue down a street which will sort of jog to your right and then go left continue another block and then make a right. You can describe it to people in the know by saying that it has seating up front, and a room in the back that you sort of pass through the kitchen to get through.

have a great trip and eat well!

regards

Theo
