No. Hoosiers don't know good food.

( ;-) Actually, there is a Thai place in Bloomington about a block south of Kirkwood that is very good. I like Mother Bear's (best deluxe pizza in the world, in my opinion), the Trojan Horse for pseudo-greek food (gyros sandwiches), and a little place called Le Petite Cafe (fresh food with a French slant). The Uptown Cafe (sort of a mixture of food types) was also good the one time I was there. It's been years since I was in Bloomington for any length of time so there are no doubt other places that are good that I didn't mention, but these are worth trying out. You should be able to find all these places easily---just check the yellow pages. All are within a few blocks of campus.)

If you are ever in the east-central part of the state, Peggy, Guy Welliver's Smorgasbord in Hagerstown is a must. Nothing L.A. about it, just plenty of great home cooking; things like fried chicken (like Grandma used to make, not the Colonel!), scalloped cabbage, rows of home-made salads, and on Friday and Saturday, shrimp cocktail. All this for about $9.95 per person! Great deal and great food.

Don't forget to visit the Two Sisters gift shop across the street for some Abbott's Candy. They've been making hand-dipped chocolates there for almost a century. Try the caramels....heaven!
