Post Opera recommendations?

Try Yvette's Wintergarden on Wacker one block south of the Sears Tower. The food is very good and on some nights there is live music and dancing. Call for hours, I'm usually too tired to go after the opera!

I have been a subscriber to the Lyric since 1984 and one of my constant complaints about Chicago has been the fact that there are few good restaurnants open after 10 pm. For being one of the largest major metropolitan cities in America, it has few if any late nite dining places. If you want pizza, Mexican, Greek, or Chinese food, your fine. Often we go to Greektown out of defalt. They're still open, but the food will be leftovers -- often dried out and re-warmed in the microwave. Chinatown's Hong Min, one of my favorites, serves till at least 1 am. And its good anytime. You'll be a little out of place in a suit there--its storefront dining. For Mexican Abril over on Milwaukee can't be beat. And they serve till at least 1am. For more upscale dining, try the Cafe at the Ritz Carlton or the Cafe at the Four Seasons. Both serve till about midnight. Pricy, small portions, limited menues, but a nice after-opera atmosphere. Since I'm constantly racing to the opera house to make it in time for curtain, I never have time for a pre-opera dinner and have made it a quest to find decent places to eat after the opera.
