OK, let's talk about all the good restaurants in Naperville.

Just in Naperville proper, leaving out the surrounding area like Wheaton and Aurora and Lisle, for starters there are:

Ben's Bistro

Cafe Merlot

Gateway of India

Emilio's Meson Sabika

Hunan Inn [& ?? the ice cream parlor next door]

Old Peking [their new chef is really great]

Little Taipei

Jin's Mandarin

And there's the cluster near Washington & Chicago Ave. intersection, including:

Bangkok Village [authentic hot Thai, no Filipino or Vietnamese
                              fake crap]

[?? the great new place where the Landmark used to be]

[ the place across the street that has live bands now ]

      the Smokehouse

      Sweet Basil

      J.B.Winberie's

Washington Square [though old-fashioned and over-priced]

plus maybe 4 other eateries in a 2-block radius

yes - Emilios is good (esp. with a largish group,) Montparnase is very good (and expensive), Washington Square is nice. Potters is great for sleasy mexican, but you've all missed my new favorite -

Walker's Charhouse in Naper Plaza (Gartner and Washington). Excellent fish and meat dishes; be sure and check out their specials. Small storefront type resturant - nice decore - only open for dinner. They serve Bass Ale (bonus points in my book...). Expect to spend $12 / person. They have a children's menu (but they don't hand out crayons - BYO).

(I was very tempted to NOT share this one - the waits for tables have been getting longer as the word has gotten around!)
