Went to Manny's restaurant and deli (1141 S. Jefferson) for a late lunch yesterday and was not impressed. The restaurant is laid out cafeteria style, you get a tray and pick what food you want. The menu on the wall made it extremely difficult to figure out what anything cost, and probably for good reason, the food there is terribly expensive. The ambience resembles what it must be like to eat in a prison cafeteria. We ate after the main lunch serving so a lot of the food there was sitting out. The two of us split a semi-warmed hamburger, a little cole slaw, a little veggie side, a pie, a cup of soup, a little potato pancake like thing and two coffees. Total bill came to $16.90. I thought that was a bit outrageous -- especially since we didn't even get two full meals. The little cups of generic cheap swill coffee were $1.25 with no refills. That's about double what Starbucks charges for their cheapest swill! Amazingly this place has been around for over 60 years. Anyway, won't be going back there again. You'd get better food, better service, better ambience, and cheaper prices at any Golden Nugget like places around town.
