This is a Cuban restaurant located around Hoyne and Armitage. Not having been there in awhile, I was taken by surprise by the new layout and atmosphere. What used to be a carryout/restaurant turned into something more formal with hostesses, candles, and soft cushy couches for those awaiting a table. We seemed a bit underdressed for the place, dirty from moving stuff all day and night.

The new layout crams a lot of tables in a small space leaving not a lot of room for aisles which means anyone walking by bumps into your table. We ordered a hot burrito and a shrimp soup with a side of rice. The shrimp soup was excellent and was very large which made for an entire meal. The steak burrito was good. Much better than Arturo's down the street but not as good as Isazu, the Costa Rican restaurant on Milwaukee and Oakley. I only encountered one fatball in the burrito. A fatball is a big piece of fat that is too large to swallow and no matter how long you chew, it won't break down. Emily Post never wrote about the proper etiquette for disposing a fatball from your mouth without swallowing it. I'm sure she would suggest swallowing but I had reservations about having a big glob of fat pass through my system. I improvised, pretended to wipe my mouth with the napkin while spitting it out all in one motion without anyone noticing. I think it worked.

The service was excellent and the prices not bad. Overall I like the new place.
