Funny thing, *not* among the *best* steak places in Chicago, but Ronnie's in the loop has a really tasty cheap steak. They are so bad they are good. Sort of like White Castles. Have one once and you'll be hooked for life.

Damn great hunks of meat served on wooden platters....don't know how they make them taste so great but there's nothing like it anywhere else in the city.

I find EJ Steakhouse on Southwest Highway between Harlem and Ridgeland to be a great place. Inexpensive, good food, which includes Polish specialties, you can get a complete steak dinner without drinks for under $10 per person from soup to dessert. They have a wide variety of steaks cooked to order (even rare) in comfortable surroundings. The restaurant is small and intimate and is a good place to have a conversation, even chess sets, and comfortable living room furniture, if you have to wait. It's all good!
