North Avenue an 76th Court or so... So 7600 North Avenue or so?

THE best beef. I've frozen it and Fedexed it to non chicagoans, it's that good.

Johnnie's Beef
7500 North Avenue
Elmwood Park
708/452-6000

Unlike most of the beef stands around town, who mainly order from Scala's, Johnnie's cooks their own beef from scratch. They make decent Italian lemonade, too (not as good as Mario's, but Mario's is closed in December).

Johnnies is on North Ave., west of Harlem by about 6 blocks. The beefs are great, the combos are awesome, the Italian ice is quality, the hot dogs are very good and come with the fries all wrapped up with the hotdog in wax paper.

In fact, I kind of miss it now that I live in the city. Thanks for the reminder. I'm on a quest!
