Dave,

You are referring to the world famous "French Embassy", which truly has fine French food AND a bowling alley. It has been the subject of many restaurant reviews in major newspapers, in and out of the Midwest.

It is in Arcola, and community known for its large Amish community, and the Broomcorn Festival, which was just held Septemebr 6 & 7.

About 32 miles south of Champaign.

Exit #203 from I-57, go thru the town of Arcola, to the west side of town. Just after the RR tracks and the grain elevator you'll find the French Embassy.

Call to make reservations for sure. Plan on bowling a couple of lines after the meal.

Check out this web page for the Chicago Tribune's article on the French Embassy or email me for a personal perspective:

As a Champaign member of Arcola's Lawn Rangers precision lawnmower drill team I have a special affection for the Embassy.
