We are going to Chicago on an eating binge in June and are looking for well known- Chicago landmark restaurants that are not chains (eg Morton's, Ruth Chris, etc.) Someone suggested Gene and Georgetti's, The Butcher Shop and Santorini's. You should also try Shaw's Crab House--great seafood; one of the deep dish pizza places--I like Pizzeria Due; and I think Eli's is the best Chicago steak house.

Famous Chicago Restaurants
Here are my notes on: Berghoff's Restaurant 17 West Adams Chicago, Il 312-427-3170 (R)(DD) Started with nickel beers and free sandwiches in 1898 Hearty American and German food served in the restaurant. Unique stand-up bar Cafe serves hand-carved sandwiches of beef, corned beef, turkey, taongue and smoked pork. Great rye bread.
You must go to the Parthenon in Greektown. It's always busy and they tend to rush you a bit, but its worth it. GET THE LAMBCHOPS! They are thick, juicy, marinated to perfection in olive oil and lemon juice and grilled to absolute perfection. If you are a meat eater you will experience a carnivorous epiphany.--Jeff Martinek ([email removed]) Nada V. wrote: >You might want to try : Spiaggia > We were in Chicago last fall for the Monet exhibit, and wanted a really >nice meal on a Saturday evening.
