I've been to Cy's three or four times over the last year.

The first time, I had the snow crab. Mediocre, at best. Tasted canned. Slow service. Wait, let me modify that... slow service even with the place about half-full.

A few months later, I decided to give it another go on the assumption that maybe it was a fluke. Had the broiled lobster. Some bizarre petro-chemical taste penetrated the dish, and left me unable to eat more than a few bites. At least they took the dish off our bill. Too bad it took a conversation with the waitress and the manager to get it.

The last time I went was at a friend's request, and I was in no position to argue. Hell, anybody can have a _FEW_ nights off... right? Went with some garlicky shrimp skewer kabob thing. Decent size shrimp, but definitely undercooked. Took 15 minutes to get a waiter's attention...

Overall, I was consistently disappointed by both the service and the food. Considering the prices that they charge, you'd think that the service and/or the food would be better.

If you want mediocre seafood and poor service, Cy's on Ashland is the place to be. I've had better experiences at Bob Chinn's and Nick's Fishmarket. Yes, it's more expensive. Yes, it's worth the price. For what you get at Cy's, you could probably head over to Red Lobster and match it...

Sorry to disappoint you, Arsenio. Here's hoping that your experience is better than any I've had there.

FYI, there's a Popeye's just down the street at the corner of Irving Park and Ashland...
