Late Night Ribs

A few weeks ago I had a craving for ribs at midnight. I reread Rene's post about late night rib places and decided to try D D & S BBQ on South Chicago Ave. I had a combo, hot BBQ sauce on the meats and it was good. The ribs were a little "fall off the bone" for my taste, but the tips and links were very good. It was served with the mandatory white bread and overly salty fries.

I was also at Brother Jimmy's last month and out of all of the offerings that we tried I can only recommend the Dry rubbed ribs, tips and the collard greens. What ever you do, stay away from the chopped pork. The chopped pork is a horrid concoction of pork in a sweet tomato based mess.

I did meet a hot sauce that pressed the limits of my hot sauce envelope though, Endorphin Rush is very very hot, much hotter than my typical table fare of MelindasXXX or Crystal extra hot.

Brother Jimmy's is a pleasant enough place, for a rib joint, and has a large selection of beer and hot sauce. They also have a deal on Sundays, all the ribs you can eat and all the beer that you can drink for 17.95$. This includes the tap microbrews. Not bad deal, though I have not and probably will not take them up on this.

Chuck's BBQ remains, by far, my favorite place for ribs in Chicago.

Enjoy,
Gary
