As a quick response, two jump to mind. David Paul's Lahaina Grill
in Lahaina is excellent. Mama's Fish House outside Paia is also excellent. If you don't mind the cost these are two of the best the island has to offer.

I'm also going in two weeks. Can't wait to get back! Avalon in Lahaina is wonderful, Pacific Rim type food. Nice atmosphere and not TOO bad on the pocketbook considering it's location. I haven't eaten there but friends told me The Plantation (also in Lahaina) is good. You can get cheap eats and delicious ( but not so cheap) Mai Tais at the Marriott PuPu bar in Kahanapaali. Kahana Keys in Kahana has good early bird deals and a great salad bar. Stick with the fresh fish, however. Lahaina Coolers is our favorite breakfast spot. Macadamia nut pancakes and breakfast burritos that are great!

Upcountry try Hailimaili General Store. Very very good. Also in Makawao (sp?) there's Casanova's and the Makawao Steak House. The steak house is expensive, but again we had a great meal there and they had a decent California wine list. Also up there is Grandma's Coffee House in Keokea. It's kinda very funky but they have some killer baked goods. Try the Cheddar Jalapeno Bread with a cup of chili and rice. This is real "local's food".

If you go to Hana, stop at Picnics in Paia for a lunch to take along or if you eat there, the Mahi Mahi sandwich is messy messy but mm mm good.

This year we are trying Roy's Kahana Bar & Grill. Roy Yamaguchi has made quit a name for himself in the islands and I've heard nothing but raves. This location is about two years old. They're number is 808-669-6999. If you want to go, call now. I'm going the 25th and yesterday called in my reservation and couldn't get my desired seating time.

If you're doing the condo thing, check with the manger to see when the farmer's market will be near you to pick up good ingredients for inhouse eating.

I understand the island is book solid while we're going to be there, so lay low, be slow and always say Mahalo!

Good luck and aloha!!

I suggest going to "A Pacific Cafe." Very good food! The wine list is a bit experimental.

Try Maui Tacos in Napili - the same owners as Avalon - no atmosphere, but good food. Also, Kimo's in Lahaina is still good, and don't miss Roy's. It's really worth what it costs! Hali Ma'ile General Store is definitely also worth trying.

I don't know if it's still as good as I remember, but 5 years ago I went to Eric's Seafood Grotto and had the best seafood I've ever had. Mahi Mahi with Macadamia nuts! I had it 3 nights in a row! - Tom Guilbert
