Roussel's in Hilo has quite a reputation; Creole/Cajun is the specialty. Other than that, the pickings are slim in Hilo itself. If you don't mind a drive, Merriman's and Adelweiss are in Kamuela (also known as Waimea), and are both good (and right across the street from each other). You might want to think about spending the night at the Kamuela Inn, which is right in the same neighborhood.

Have a good time.

Don's in Hilo is good and cheap, but it's not fancy. On the Kona side Adelweiss (sp?) is excellent as is Merriman's. IMHO the best of the lot is Golden Chopsticks. It has some of the best Chinese food I've ever had, and the prices are very reasonable by Hawaii standards.

Have fun, and good eating
