My favorite restaurant on the Big Island of Hawaii was the Edelweiss, which is in Kamuela, on the dry side of the island. Kamuela has another name which escapes me at the moment. The Edelweiss has great European food. I mean, really wonderfully flavorful food. And a menu as long as your arm. Except that they do not list everything they serve in their printed menu. They usually have about 15 specials on any particular evening. They do not take reservations. Waimea, that's the name I was waiting for. Waimea or Kamuela. Look for it on the map or in the phonebook.

I remember Brenecke's on the SW side of Kauai as being the best. A Pacific Cafe is good but you've got to watch out for the aging yuppies in there.
