If you are interested in traditional Hamburgensian dishes, try the Restaurant right opposite the main entrance of the church "Michel". I believe it's called "English Room". If you are _really_ interested try the famous "Labskaus" there. But don't blame me. Another traditional Restaurant is the "Liekedeeler" (Pirate in english). I think this one is at the Ost-West-Strasse. It's been some years that I left Hamburg to live in Munich so I don't remember too well.

If you should happen to stop in Soltau at Lueneburger Heide between Hamburg and Hannover, I recommend to try Wirtshaus zur Post. They serve dishes in the traditionell german style, ( Gutbuergerlige Kueche ). Especially their dishes from Schwaben are in my opinion first-rate.
