I lived in atlanta for many years, and if you have a car (or, just use CCT and MARTA--btw, you are in Marietta/Cobb County), here are ones worth visiting: Of course, I don't know what you may like, or what your lifestyle is like, so I'll list ones I like starting with conservative to nightclub to others I like. ****Nick's, downtown. Upscale casual. ****Dante's Down The Hatch. Underground Atlanta. Casual. Fondue. *****The 1861 House. Marietta. Formal. Excellent classical cuisine. (I may have missed on the name, but ask some locals). ***The Vortex. Little 5-Points. Very casual. Great burgers and beer. ***Taco Mac. Roswell Road right off I-285 (Exit 19). Mexican--Great chicken dishes. Casual. **American Pie. Next to Taco Mac. Good burgers, great nightclub atmosphere. Fun times. ***Spondivit's. Airport area. Very casual. Great burgers and beer. Killer atmosphere. [note] Sundial Reastaurant at the Westin Peachtree Plaza Hotel, Downtown. [my experience in 1985] Avoid it. Great view, but why pay $20 for an eggplant? Go for drinks or dessert before committing to the dinner menu. Highly overpriced for what you get, even considering the $120 dinner tab for 2 at the 1861 House v. the $40 tab for one (no drinks) there. The Chef may have changed though.
