Sort of a hip-hop 50's type joint. Ask for Feta cheese with your fries... mmmmm... Guthries off of Baxter Street is also incredible in my book, but I think that it's something about being genetically altered to enjoy the stuff. Guthrie's plate, no slaw, double fries & a sweet tea will run you about $4.75. They take checks!! :^) Excellent southern barbecue can be had at the Spring House barbecue off main street as you're heading into Athens from Atlanta. It's a real dump and the food lives up to my standards of good barbecue having to come from a real dump. Chinese? Peking (East or West Athens) is the best. Try their Peking Chicken. I can't find it anywhere else. The west athens one is big, fancy and easily seen from the Atlanta highway. The east athens one is tucked away in a strip mall with an Eckerds. Mexican food can be had at the Mexicali Grill, I hear there's a new one opened up off Atl. Highway as you go into town, but the one I always ate at was further towards athens. Japanese Steak & Seafood House, if it's still there -- Kyoto's off of Alps. I worked there for about six months because I loved the food so much. (The job sucked) :) Best Bar: The Half Moon Pub, located in the basement of some coffeehouse. Yes, going back to Athens for me is more than reminiscing. I HAVE to stop by at least a couple of these joints while I am there.
