Restaurants in Provence FORGET LES BAUX: OVERRATED+++

Les Baux is absolutely terrible. The service is arrogant and the food average at best. The sommelier steered me to an overpriced bottle and really pushed it. I sampled it and told him it was flat. He said that it merely needed to open up. I finally flagged down the captain who replaced what was clearly flawed wine. Really a must miss.

Mr. Balash,

Regarding your experience at Osteau Baumaniere, I am sorry to hear that your experience was so unpleasant. My experiences there have always been wonderful. The setting is incomparable, located in a valley, flanked by steep cliffs, topped with the ancient ruins of Les Baux. The food has been magnificient both in presentation, and preparation. The Maitre d' was gracious, and I did not experience any suggestions of wines that were not appropriate for the meal.

The restaurant business is one of the most difficult enterprises to be able to please everyone, especially on every visit. Again, I am sorry to hear your disappointment, but I would like others to know, that I believe that your experience is the exception, not the rule.

Sincerely,
JDB
