Outside of Bridgeport there is a great restaurant called Bloodroot. It's on the water (but you can definately see signs of civilization) and in the summer there are tables out in the garden area. They serve really good vegitarian food and have a feminist bookstore which you can browse while you wait for your order. Although they are feminists, they are not anti male as I know from having been there with men many times. They are not open every nite during the week - I will guess something like Thurs thru Sunday, with lunches at least on the weekends. Give it a try and let me know what you think although you won't want to sit outside in the winter. Mary in Seattle who used to live in NYC and went up there on a regular basis
