One is McCormick's in the Oxford Hotel on 17th St. near Union Station. The hotel is a restored Victorian gem. The hotel bar is also worth a visit, redone in high Art Deco in the 1930s. The restaurant is primarily seafood. Everything was fresh and well-prepared. The story of the restaurant in the menu mentions founder McCormick's buddy Mr. Schmidt so I wonder if this is the origin of the chain. The name is simply McCormick's, however. Kitty-corner from McCormick's is Jax, also featuring seafood. Similar fare, also fresh and well-prepared. This place is louder, more hip. Both places are somewhat pricey, about what you'ld expect for seafood places. In Cherry Creek, try Chez Jose for cheap but tasty mexican food. The tacos etc. manage to be a cut above the usual taqueria fare--fish tacos, roasted chicken and beef--that doesn't go too far toward the healthy end of the spectrum. If you like bookstores, you'll probably be in the neighborhood anyways to check out the Tattered Cover, and somewhere along 1st or 2nd there's a neat old used camera shop, if you're into that sort of thing.

If you want a decent pizza; hit Josephina's (1433 Larimer); which has a pretty good deepdish that their menu says that won a pizza contest in Chicago a few years ago. It reminds me a bit of Jeno's; except that the water here in Denver combined with the altitude just doesn't give you the same great pizza made in Chicago. If you want the best Chicago pizza; go to Fiore's (County Line at Holly St.) way down south in Littleton--it is ran by a family of transplanted Chicagoans (from Round Lake); but thats a bit of a drive from downtown.
