It's been years, but "The Kettle of Fish" was excelent. They have no main course menu. It's what they get fresh daily and is on blackboards placed around the resturant.

Most of the best seafood restaurants in Vancouver are Asian. Tojo's, a Nobu-esque Japanese restaurant, is among the best in North America. Sun Sui Wah and President are two excellent Chinese seafood spots. If you're going to lean towards European-inspired cuisine, however, there's no reason to choose a fish place specifically. Every top restaurant in Vancouver has good fish on its menu.

There are a number:

C - downtown across from Granville Island
The Stanley Park Fish House;
The Salmon House - alder smoked/grilled fish - great view

As another poster indicated any of the better restaurants will have decent seafood.

Lumiere
The Stanley Park Tea House
Beachside Cafe
Bishop's
Gavroche
Rain City Grill (not the Rain Tree!)
Joe Fortes
Crocodile

Have not eaten at the Cannery although it is one of those restaurants one at least used to see advertised in all the tourist literature. My "impression"
>from others was more mediocre than really good.

It's been a few years since we visited, but Lumiere was superb. We loved every course of a tasting menu. Hands down excellent. Rain City (cafe, grill, something like that) was much more casual but surprisingly good. Well maybe we shouldn't have been surprised, but it didn't look as if it would be as good as it was.
